I am a single 65 years old female interested in building community in Medeira. Does anyone know the best way to meet people?

So, there are 3 Facebook groups HIGHLY recommended for anyone living in Madeira to mingle a bit:

  • Madeira Friends (they host parties/events with this goal - you can also DM them on Instagram and they’ll add you to their WhatsApp groups)
  • Madeira Expat Community
  • Madeira Girl Gone International (also organizing meetups regularly)

As you know, even though it’s a small community, many people there speak English, and there’s a great number of foreigners. So, these groups are extra helpful for meeting new people.

Besides that, I highly recommend you try out and participate in activities like golf, yoga, gymnastics, or swimming. This has been a great way to make friends in expat communities.

If you’re feeling adventurous, head to a few poncha bars, and you’ll meet plenty of locals.
